The MPI claim centre will close the doors of its Timber Lane location later this week.
MPI announced earlier this year it was shuttering both the Flin Flon location and a location in Winnipeg as a cost saving measure.
The Flin Flon claim centre has operated on a part-time basis of two days per week, with a single employee.
“Closure of the Flin Flon centre is expected to result in yearly savings of about $65,000 in building operating costs,” said Brian Smiley, a spokesperson for MPI.
Going forward, estimating services will be provided out of truck located in the Canadian Tire parking lot on an appointment-only basis, with employees from The Pas travelling to Flin Flon to provide these services. Walk in service will no longer be provided.
Despite these changes, Smiley said the level of service will remain the same.
“MPI is committed to continuing to provide current levels of service to the community and that will not change once the building is closed,” he said.
“Services will continue to be provided through visitations from The Pas at the same frequency as today.”
Class 5 drivers tests will continue to be offered out of the Masonic Hall in Flin Flon – those wishing to take their Class 1 to 3 tests will continue to be required to leave town to take the tests. The Pas is the closest option for these tests.
MPI is encouraging Flin Flon residents who require licensing, identification and auto insurance services to contact their local Autopac agent.
The last day of service at the Timber Lane location is Oct. 27.
