A Manitoba MP wants the provincial NDP to reject federal New Democrat leader Thomas Mulcair's promise to reinstate the long-gun registry if elected. The statement comes from Robert Sopuck, the anti-registry Conservative MP for Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette. 'I call on the Manitoba NDP government to repudiate their federal leader's plans to bring back the long-gun registry,' said Sopuck in a news release. 'Manitobans have waited a long time for the end of the burdensome long-gun registry for the NDP to now threaten to bring it back.' He called the long-gun registry 'an attack on the rural way of life and Manitoba's communities.' 'The Manitoba NDP government and NDP Members of Parliament like Niki Ashton need to take Mulcair to task for his threat to renew the long-gun registry,' Sopuck said.
