Film rental chain Movie Gallery plans to close its current Flin Flon location and move to the Flintoba Shopping Centre by the end of the year. The popular outlet will share with several other businesses leased space in a commercial building being constructed near the far end of the Wal-Mart parking lot. "Obviously Wal-Mart is a huge draw, the grocery store [Extra Foods] is a huge draw, Canadian Tire is a huge draw, so we're trying to keep things convenient for our customers," said Jacquie McGregor, Toronto-based real estate manager, referring to the other businesses at the site. She said the new location, which will be about the same size as the current one on Main St., will allow for more customer parking, another key consideration for the Alabama-based franchise. But the decision did not come easily given the strong revenues of the store, which opened on the south end of Main St. in 1999. "It becomes a bit of a difficult decision when you talk about wanting to move a successful business," said McGregor. Movie Gallery had been in discussions with the shopping site developer, Winnipeg-based Kraft Construction, since the beginning of the year. McGregor hopes the new Movie Gallery location will be open for business by Dec. 1; if not, by the end of the year.
