This Tuesday, June 4, motivational speaker Connie Lynne is returning to Flin Flon. Her RCMP-sponsored program to address family violence has been a huge success. Due to the high number of requests, Lynne is returning for two more free sessions. One of these sessions has been earmarked for Flin Flon youth. â??Family violence needs to be addressed early if we are to stop the cycle,â?ù says Lynne. Lynne has adapted her original program to be more understandable from the youthsâ?? perspective. This version identifies the danger signs, recognizes the volatility of the cycle of abuse and offers solutions as to what to do when stuck within the cycle and where to turn for help. Lynne, herself a survivor, is removing the stigma associated with the pain and shame of abuse. â??Iâ??ve been there, I understand! Together we can stop the suffering,â?ù Lynne said. â??One of my passions is to help victims of domestic abuse gain their personal freedom. We have organized a number of funded one-day seminars in western Canada that provide the necessary empowering resources for people who are stuck within that cycle. I am so happy to be coming back.â?ù The abuse cycle affects everyone in some way or another. Lynne is not afraid to state the harsh reality that is hidden within the shadows of abuse. In fact, she believes that the truth must be revealed for the cycle of abuse to be broken. She knows the depth of the problem because she has been there. Lynne bonds with her audience through her own distinctive character. She is neither embarrassed nor ashamed of using her past challenges to benefit her audience. In fact, she has an unmatched ability to take advantage of her unique past mistakes (life lessons, as she refers to them) and highlights their hidden treasures. ÂOne overjoyed participant stated after a seminar, â??Connie Lynne has so much emotion and enthusiasm for what she teaches, how can you not be changed!â?ù Her mission is to help as many people as possible. Her passion is to inspire others get through their hardships and grow from them. The first June 4 seminar will be held at the Denare Beach Band Office starting at 10 a.m. and will continue until 3 p.m. Lunch is generously being provided by the community. Although this seminar is primarily directed at victims of family violence, it is open to anyone caught within the abuse cycle. Abuse falls under many different headings; this includes self-abuse and anything from addictions to self-esteem issues. The second session is more relaxed for the youth and will be held June 4 from 5-9 p.m. at the Youth Centre at the Flin Flin Aboriginal Friendship Centre. â?? Submitted Article
