Junior miner Callinex Mines has begun drilling on its Sneath Lake claims just outside Snow Lake. The Vancouver-based company says it has defined three deep targets at the site, a 1,400-hectare claim block. Meanwhile, Callinex is also in receipt of drilling permits for its Moak Lake site in the Thompson region. The 425-hectare Moak Lake claim, located 30 km north of Thompson, has been the site of nickel exploration since the 1950s. Callinex said an examination of public assessment records filed with the Manitoba government has shown geological formations prospective for nickel sulphides exist at the site. Through interpretation of an airborne electromagnetic survey, Callinex said its exploration team has defined four drill targets, which will be tested as part of this season's drill program. Back in Snow Lake, another junior miner, Jaxon Minerals, announced last month it was commencing a diamond drilling program at a project outside the northern town. Jaxon said the drilling would test previously identified targets, with work to be completed before the end of the year. The company also announced it has permitted and is planning a diamond drill program on its Beatty Lake, Sask., project in early 2013.
