Canada Post is reviewing its options for a planned secondary postal outlet that promises greater convenience. Spokesperson John Caines said that while there is nothing to announce at this time, plans remain in place for a dealership post office. 'We are just assessing our options,' he said, unable to provide any additional details. The dealership would be run privately and offer residents the ability to access services like parcel pickups at night and on weekends. Many postal dealerships exist in communities across Canada, complementing existing postal services. But the local postal workers' union alleges that the dealership is part of a plan to cut services at the main post office, but Canada Post denies the claim. Nonetheless, both Flin Flon city council and MP Niki Ashton have come out against the dealership, though this has yet to influence Canada Post's decision.
