The Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce plans to enhance the uptown shopping experience with the addition of a few more benches on Main St. "Last year, when we were doing promotions on Main St., we found there were seniors and other people who found it would be nice if they had some benches to sit on," said Doug O'Brien, chamber president. The chamber will apply within the next month for grant money to purchase some concrete benches. The organization has already set aside about $2,000 Ð money raised during last year's Trout Festival Ð but hopes to supplement those funds with grant money in order to purchase as many benches as possible. O'Brien said possibly three new benches would be put on Main St. at locations yet to be determined. If the chamber has the means to purchase additional benches, they could be part of the organization's proposed Peace Gardens project. The idea for the benches originated with the Business Builders Association, an arm of the chamber. O'Brien noted that this plan will have to be run by Flin Flon City Council.
