Details are scarce, but MLA Clarence Pettersen is hopeful that tenants will move into the former Flin Flon Hotel.
“Hopefully in the new year I can make some announcement in regards to maybe the Flin Flon Hotel,” Pettersen said this week at an unrelated event to announce new seniors’ housing for Hemlock Drive.
Pettersen said he and the owner of the building are “working really hard” in terms of getting tenants. He offered no other details.
His comments come more than a year after his government rejected a proposal to convert the building, vacant since 1999, into a seniors’ housing complex.
Pettersen previously suggested the building be used to meet the accommodation needs of both UCN and the Northern Health Region.
