Denare Beach's Northern Gateway Museum needs your help in recovering two small but invaluable artifacts. The gold wedding bands belonging to the late Fred Shwaga and his wife, Pearl, went missing from the museum in 2010. The bands were kept inside cases in Shwaga's Nook, an area of the museum dedicated to the couple. The cases were left behind. Fred Shwaga was a long-time mayor and community leader in Denare Beach. He also built the village's original museum. 'These rings carry no monetary value, but hold an enormous amount of sentimental and historical value,' reads a sign posted at the Northern Gateway Museum. Creighton RCMP have been notified of the missing rings and are conducting an investigation based on visitation records. The museum has pledged not to press any charges if the bands are returned. No questions will be asked. Anyone with information on the rings, or who knows of their whereabouts, are asked to contact the museum at 306-362-2141.
