Jonathon Naylor Editor A mishap on Wekash Lake outside Creighton has claimed two lives. At about 8 p.m. last Wednesday, June 27, three people were thrown from a jet ski as it made a sharp turn, Creighton RCMP said. Police said neither the driver nor the two passengers were wearing life jackets. Only one of them, a passenger, managed to reach the shore safely. The other passenger, a 46-year-old woman from B.C., was taken to the Flin Flon General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Mounties led a search for the 54-year-old driver, a man from the Creighton area. His body was located last Thursday night. RCMP were notified of the mishap after a family member of the lone survivor went to check on the individuals, as they were about 45 minutes late for a planned meal. The survivor is from the Creighton area. Police did not release any names. RCMP were investigating as possible factors driver inexperience, alcohol use and lack of personal floatation devices. Creighton RCMP Sgt. Mark Svaren said police would be assisting medical examiners with the ongoing investigation. Wekash Lake is located about 12 kilometres southwest of Creighton.
