Manitoba's mining industry was showcased at The Forks in Winnipeg to kick off mining week, which was proclaimed Friday by Scott Smith, minister of industry, economic development and mines. Mining week runs from May 7-13. "Not only is mining Manitoba's second largest primary resource industry, its long history in the province has made a significant contribution to economic and community development across Manitoba, particularly in the North," said Smith.
