Canada is still tops in terms of raising money for the mining sector, the National Post recently reported. From January to June, the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange accounted for 36 per cent of the money raised for mining companies globally, the newspaper stated. "The Canadian capital markets provide the lion's share of equity financing for mineral exploration and development work," read a report cited by the newspaper. The Post quoted analyst Graeme Currie as saying that the financing "is beginning to ripple through to exploration companies, which is where it is needed because many of those companies have not had the ability to raise capital for a number of years."
