The Manitoba Milk Prices Review Commission has announced that, as of December 1, the maximum price for one litre containers of fluid milk has decreased by two cents to reflect decreasing costs for dairy producers. The two cent decrease applies to maximum wholesale and retail milk prices for one litre containers of homogenized, two per cent, one per cent and skim milk. The decrease in the cost of milk production to Manitoba dairy producers is a direct result of lower hay and barley prices. Prices paid to Manitoba dairy producers will decrease by 1.53 cents per litre in response to a decrease in the overall cost of producing fluid milk. The maximum prices, which mainly affect Winnipeg and Brandon, will be $1.45 for homogenized milk, $1.38 for two per cent milk, $1.32 for one per cent milk and $1.28 for skim milk. Maximum prices for other communities will be higher as a result of transportation costs.
