The Honourable Mr. Justice Edward P. MacCallum of the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench will conduct an inquiry into the events that led to the wrongful conviction of David Milgaard. "The purpose of this inquiry is to examine and report on any and all aspects of the conduct of the investigation into the death of Gail Miller and the criminal proceedings against David Milgaard," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said. The appointment, which was made by an Order-in-Council, outlines the terms of reference for the inquiry. The Commission will report its findings and make such recommendations as it considers advisable relating to the administration of criminal justice in the province of Saskatchewan. Justice MacCallum is a long serving trial judge in Alberta who was appointed to the Court of Queen's Bench in 1983.
