Flin Flon's biggest flowers should be replanted in time for the Trout Festival. Workers were at the Neighbours of the North Park this week removing the metal flower sculptures that mark the provincial border. With the aide of a grant, the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce is having the flowers sandblasted and repainted. Installed by the chamber in 2005, the flowers have begun to show their age with rust spots and missing leaves. A $9,800 grant from the Hudbay 80th Anniversary Fund is paying for the refurbishment. The chamber's goal is to have the flowers back in place in time for the Trout Festival in late June and early July. Meanwhile, the chamber is inviting members and their spouses to an evening meeting next Thursday, April 18. The meeting, to be held at the newly renovated dining area of The Unwinder, will feature guest speaker Brad Lantz, vice-president of Hudbay's Manitoba Business Unit. There is a $20 charge per person to enjoy the buffet supper. The chamber asks members who plan to attend to RSVP by calling 204-687-4518 by this Tuesday, April 16.
