Brad Lantz, who once headed Hudbay’s Manitoba division before transferring to its head office, is no longer with the company due to corporate belt-tightening.
In a statement to The Reminder, Hudbay said that in response to low metal prices, it has launched a number of initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Among those efforts are organizational changes, including the merger of Lantz’s former duties as vice president, business development and technical services, with those of Terry Linde, vice president, project services.
“Brad was much admired and respected in the Manitoba Business Unit and at the corporate office,” said Scott Brubacher, director of corporate communications for Hudbay. “He has our best wishes and great thanks.”
Lantz was Hudbay’s vice president, Manitoba Business Unit, from 2011 to 2014, when he left for the head office in Toronto.
He joined HBMS, which later became part of Hudbay, as a geologist at the now-defunct Ruttan mine in Leaf Rapids in 1987.
Relocating to Flin Flon in 1996, Lantz moved from geology to engineering and onto progressively higher levels of responsibility within the company.
From 2003 to 2007, he was mine manager at 777 mine. From 2007 to 2011, he was vice president of mining for all of Hudbay.
