Organizers of the 2004 Trout Festival want your thoughts on how to improve the summertime tradition. The public is encouraged to attend the Trout Festival annual general meeting tomorrow, Nov. 26, at the Trout Room at the Flin Flon Community Hall. The meeting will get underway at 7 p.m. "We hope to have the public come out because it's their festival and we want to know what they liked about the last festival and what they didn't like," said Greg East, who was festival president this past summer. One change being considered for next summer is the relocation of the Fish Fry rock concert from the Whitney Forum to the smaller venue of the R.H. Channing Auditorium. "The numbers at the Fish Fry have been dropping every year, and it's gotten to the point where, unless we're told otherwise by the public, we're going to have it at the Community Hall," said East. "But that's open to discussion, and that's the kind of discussion we hope to have at the annual general meeting." The meeting will also serve to appoint a new executive for the festival. East said that some members of the previous executive will not let their names stand, so there will be vacancies. He spoke of wanting to have more community participation in the festival from residents of Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach and the surrounding areas. "The Trout Festival has been on for over 50 years and we want to keep it going for as long as the community is here," said East. East is extending an invitation to service clubs to lend a hand, noting that the Flin Flon Lions' Club takeover of Bakers Narrows Day has been successful and appreciated.
