As usual, judges at this year's Queen Mermaid Pageant have a difficult task in front of them. With 12 young women vying for the crown, it promises to be one of the most exciting pageants in recent memory. Here is a brief biography of each of the contestants, written in their own words. * * * Shaleen Baribeau Age: 17 Sponsor: Flin Flon Motorcycle Association Hi! My name is Shaleen Baribeau and I am 17 years old. My sponsor is the Flin Flon Motorcycle Association. Although I have only lived here for one-and-a-half years, I feel that Flin Flon has become a big part of my life. The Queen Mermaid Pageant has given me the opportunity to show my appreciation towards the community of Flin Flon. I hope to have fun during the six weeks of the pageant. Denee Church Age: 16 Sponsor: Faktor's Fashions Hey! My name is Denee Church and I am 16 years old. My sponsor is Faktor's Fashions! I have entered to represent that you can be in a pageant and still be an individual. My hobbies include hoop dancing, music, and being an individual just having fun! Roma Currell Age: 15 Sponsor: Verona's Pizza and Specialty House Hey! My name is Roma and I am 15 years old. I'm sponsored by Evelyn from Verona's Pizza and Specialty House. My hobbies are singing, hanging out with my close friends, and spending time with my family. What I hope to get out of this pageant is experience in public speaking. Keri Krieger Age: 16 Sponsor: Fresh Finds Hey! My name is Keri Krieger. I'm 16 years old and currently in grade 9 at Hapnot Collegiate. I enjoy playing basketball and wrestling along with just hanging out with my friends. I joined the pageant to meet new people and to be out in the community. I hope from participating in the Queen Mermaid Pageant I will become a positive role model for young girls! Camille Limoges Age: 17 Sponsor: Dembinsky's Hey! My name is Camille Limoges. I'm 17 years old. My sponsor is Dembinsky's. I have many hobbies and interests, basketball and soccer among the many. I have taken this opportunity to enter the pageant to learn more about the community and the people. This year is going to be great! Hope to see you at the Queen Mermaid showcase. Dusty Markham Age: 16 Sponsor: Wal-Mart Hello, my name is Dusty Markham. I'm 16 years old and in grade 11 at Hapnot Collegiate. My sponsor is Wal-Mart. I hope that by being part of the Queen Mermaid Pageant, I am going to have a wonderful experience and gain more self confidence. Steph Menzies Age: 17 Sponsor: Flin Flon Indian-Metis Friendship Centre Hi! My name is Steph Menzies and I am 17 years old and in grade 11 at Hapnot Collegiate. My sponsor is the Flin Flon Friendship Centre. I enjoy the outdoors, music, and dance. I hope to have a great experience in the Queen Mermaid Pageant. Kira Misfeldt Age: 15 Sponsor: Gunn Sound and Light Hi, my name is Kira Misfeldt. My hobbies and interests are playing guitar and fooling around on the computer. I joined to learn more about the community. I would like to personally thank Dave Gunn for sponsoring me. As for sports, I like soccer and volleyball. I think it will be a good experience. Thanks to everyone! Natasha Moar Age: 15 Sponsor: Lavallee Fashions My name is Natasha Moar and I'm 15 years old. I'm in grade 9 at Hapnot Collegiate. My sponsor is Lavallee Fashions. What I hope to get out of the Queen Mermaid Pageant is to have experience with the community and to learn that I can have fun. My interests are listening to music and playing sports. Michelle Pettersen Age: 17 Sponsor: Sharon's Place Hi, my name is Michelle Pettersen, Miss Sharon's Place. I am 17 years old and in grade 11 at Hapnot Collegiate. I play a variety of sports but my favourites are soccer and track and field. I hope that in the Queen Mermaid Pageant I can learn more about the community and make new friendships. Kayla Reeves Age: 17 Sponsor: Pharmasave Hi! My name is Kayla Reeves, Miss Pharmasave. I am 17 years old and in grade 11 at Hapnot Collegiate. I enjoy sports such as swimming, golfing and track. By joining the Queen Mermaid Pageant, I am hoping to learn more about the community and I'm sure some great friendships will come out of it. Kelsey Watt Age: 15 Sponsor: Ginnell Bauman Watt Miss Ginnell Bauman Watt this year is myself, Kelsey Watt. I am in grade 9 and 15 years old. I love to hang out with my friends and talk, like any other girl. I entered the pageant because it was an opportunity that opened its door to the wonderful people and wonderful places here in Flin Flon that have given so much. I thought I'd take the time to give back.
