Saskatchewan’s youngest mayor wants to be Creighton and Denare Beach’s next MLA.
La Ronge Mayor Thomas Sierzycki, 26, is the Saskatchewan Party candidate for the Cumberland constituency in the next provincial election.
“I’m excited to continue the work that has already been started,” Sierzycki said in a press statement. “I will continue to work hard to earn the support of the constituents of Cumberland.”
Born and raised in La Ronge, Sierzycki said he wants to be “a direct voice” for the communities of Cumberland. He earned the governing party’s nomination at a meeting last month.
The Cumberland constituency, which includes Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows and the rest of northeastern Saskatchewan, is currently represented by NDP MLA Doyle Vermette.
