Three of the four northern Manitoba ridings have been called by the Canadian Press (CP) – each for NDP candidates – but the Flin Flon race remains close.

As of 10 p.m., Tom Lindsey leads the riding for the NDP with 689 votes. PC candidate Theresa Wride sits second with 569 votes, while James Lindsay obtained 146 votes for the Manitoba Liberal Party. Green Party candidate Saara Murnick is in fourth with 79 votes.

Thompson is the latest riding to have a likely winner – the NDP’s Danielle Adams, with half of the riding’s 54 polls reporting, leads incumbent PC MLA Kelly Bindle 1,313 votes to 937. If elected, Adams will regain the seat for the NDP. Bindle won election to the Legislature in the riding, previously an NDP stronghold, in 2015.

Keewatinook NDP candidate Ian Bushie is winning in a landslide, having received 670 votes to PC candidate Arnold Flett’s 85 and Liberal Jason Harper’s 76. Eighteen of 52 polls are reporting in the riding. Liberal MLA Judy Klassen won the riding in 2015, but stepped down from provincial politics earlier this year to run for the Liberal Party of Canada in the upcoming federal election.

The Pas-Kameesak was the first northern riding to be called by CP, going to NDP incumbent Amanda Lathlin. Lathlin, who has received 1,941 votes with 35 of 54 polls reporting, leads second-place PC Ron Evans by a massive margin. Evans has received 704 votes so far. Green Ralph McLean is in third with 513 votes.

Province-wide, the PC party has a confirmed majority, slated to win 35 seats to the NDP’s 19 and the Liberals’ three.
