The provincial government is seeking public input on a draft plan designed to protect beluga whales in Hudson Bay and northern Manitoba rivers.
The draft plan includes the Seal, Churchill and Nelson estuaries, which are heavily used by migratory belugas, the province said.
The province said it has been working with Oceans North Canada to develop the plan and sought input from other groups such as Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society.
The draft plan is available online by Googling “Manitoba beluga plan” (without quotes). Sixty days have been allotted for public review and comment before the plan is finalized.
