Manitoba has highest murder rate among provinces: stats

Manitoba had the highest homicide rate among the provinces in 2014, a new Statistics Canada report shows. The report, as cited by CBC, showed Manitoba had a homicide rate of 3.43 per 100,000 people last year. That was behind Nunavut (10.

The report, as cited by CBC, showed Manitoba had a homicide rate of 3.43 per 100,000 people last year.

That was behind Nunavut (10.93), Yukon (8.22) and Northwest Territories (6.88) but ahead of all of the provinces.

Among the provinces, Alberta had the second-highest homicide rate (2.52) while Saskatchewan was third (2.13).

The province with the lowest homicide rate in Canada was Newfoundland and Labrador (0.38).
