Manhunt for accused abductor, killer

Mounties are scouring the Cranberry Portage area in search of a man who allegedly abducted a teen from a Saskatchewan reserve. Police believe Jonas Budd, 43, fled on foot into the bush “in the area of Cranberry Portage” this morning.

Police believe Jonas Budd, 43, fled on foot into the bush “in the area of Cranberry Portage” this morning. Police could not be more specific about the location.

 

Budd is considered armed and dangerous.

 

Budd is accused of abducting Kayla Natomagan, 17, from Lac La Ronge First Nation shortly after 3 am this morning.

 

Officers from Cranberry Portage located Natomagan “safe and sound” this morning. An amber alert was quickly cancelled.

 

Police told Global News that Budd is the estranged common-law partner of Natomagan’s mother.

 

RCMP say Budd is also a suspect in this morning's shooting death of a man at the Lac La Ronge home from which Natomagan was abducted.

 

Budd is an Aboriginal man who stands 5 ft. 9 in. and weighs 170 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes.

 

Budd also has several tattoos, including:

 

• Left forearm: bear paw

• Left calf: eagle head

• Left shin: ribbon with the name “Nicole”

• Upper torso, back: feathers​
