Pelican Narrows RCMP are investigating the disappearance of Gabriel Ballantyne, 53, of Pelican Narrows, who was reported missing and presumed drowned on Sept. 25. The incident was initially reported to Creighton RCMP as it was believed to have occurred on Granite Lake. Subsequent investigation has determined that Ballantyne and another male from Pelican Narrows were moose hunting near Wildnest Lake. Both were reportedly on a canoe that sank into the water Sept. 18. The second male was able to swim to shore and get to help. CASARA, RCMP Search and Rescue, members from the Pelican Narrows RCMP detachment, as well as a number of citizens from Pelican Narrows, have been involved in the search for Ballantyne. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team will also be assisting in the search. If you have information on the location of Ballantyne, please contact the Pelican Narrows RCMP at 306-632-3300 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. _ RCMP 'F' Division
