A Flin Flon man is in custody after allegedly stealing a City of Flin Flon truck before lighting it on fire Sunday morning. Michael William Cook, 21, has been remanded to The Pas Correctional Institute awaiting charges of theft over $5,000 and arson. Police and firefighters were called to the Hillside Cemetery road Sunday morning, where they found the Dodge pickup truck engulfed in flames. The vehicle had been stolen from a City employee's Fifth Ave. home a few hours earlier, police said. After further investigation, RCMP arrested Cook on Sunday afternoon. Police have also charged the suspect with five counts of mischief under $5,000 stemming from vandalism that took place in the downtown area early Sunday. The side windows of several vehicles had been broken, police said. Cook also faces a charge of breach of recognizance and previous charges of taking a motor vehicle without consent; arson; break, enter and theft; and theft over $5,000. Police are continuing their investigation.
