A Flin Flon man is facing charges of exposing himself to minors after a police investigation last month.

Flin Flon RCMP confirmed that they were informed Sept. 7 of a man who had “exposed his genitals to a child under the age of 16 while in the Flin Flon Walmart,” according to a statement from police.

“An investigation was opened at that time and through the investigation, police were able to identify a suspect.”

According to RCMP, a search warrant was undertaken at a Flin Flon home Sept. 19, with a suspect being taken into custody. Through the investigation, RCMP obtained enough evidence to charge a suspect.

Police identified the suspect as 45-year-old Ryan Shuya of Flin Flon. Shuya faces one count of exposure of genital organs to a person under the age of 16 relating to the original call from Walmart, under Section 173(2) of the Criminal Code.

After a further police investigation, police charged Shuya with five other counts of the same offense, along with an extra count of disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense in relation to an investigation from 2016.

Shuya was released from police custody on conditions, according to Flin Flon RCMP. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Flin Flon Nov. 4.
