Highlights from the Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority board meeting held Nov. 13 in Pinehouse: ÊThe board took time to thank the staff in Pinehouse for their dedication, and honoured three employees who achieved long-service milestones. Members of the Pinehouse Village Council and community took time to share their community vision, along with associated goals and strategies. A large poster board outlining these will be placed in the Pinehouse Health Centre. The health region staff there are engaged in contributing to the achievement of these community goals. ÊThe board heard that Pinehouse community residents were issued a challenge to abstain from alcohol for the month of November. The response has been positive and over 100 homes have posted 'Alcohol-Free Home' signs on their doors or windows. The Reclaiming Our Community group has organized a month of programming to coincide with this challenge. Two board members, Betsy Kelly and Coralie Ylioja, plan to attend an upcoming meeting of the Pinehouse Reclaiming Our Community group. ÊThe board approved a number of safety-related capital expenditures, including the purchase of a replacement tub for the La Ronge Health Centre to meet the needs of long-term care and home care clients. ÊFor 2013, the board established the last Wednesday of the month as the date of their meetings, except for July and December. _ Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority
