Developments from the Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority board meeting held April 26: ÊJosie Searson has submitted her resignation as a member of the board, after serving for six years. Board members expressed gratitude for her contribution and extended best wishes to her. As part of their meeting, board members gathered on the acute care ward of the La Ronge Health Centre to receive an overview of Releasing Time to Care, an initiative that is being introduced in this facility. Releasing Time to Care is a patient-centred approach to improving the quality of care on acute care nursing units, by freeing up caregivers' time for more direct patient care. Other health facilities in Saskatchewan that have already implemented the program have experienced positive results. Board members reported on their attendance at the Health Care Quality Summit in Saskatoon on April 17 and 18. PowerPoint slides of the presentations are available on the website www.qualitysummit.ca. It was decided that the board will hold a special meeting in La Ronge on May 23 to receive the audited financial statements for the 2011-12 fiscal year. Representatives of the region's auditors, Deloitte and Touche, and the provincial auditor will be present.
