Flin Flon City Council is officially allowing an act that many motorists have been guilty of from time to time. Council on Tuesday approved the final reading of a motion to permit left turns onto Main St. from Second Ave. as long as it is done outside of regular business hours. In an effort to improve traffic flow, left turns will be allowed Monday to Saturday between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m., and all day on Sunday. "Which will speed things up," said Coun. Tom Therien, who presented the final reading of the motion. Council also okayed a request to donate a light standard from the Flin Flon Community Hall parking lot to the Flin Flon Station Museum. The standard will be removed due to the construction of the new NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority facility in the parking lot. The museum plans to install the pole on its property near Highway 10A to provide lighting for artifacts such as the train car. That sums up the proceedings at the meeting, which, at approximately six minutes long, was likely one of the shortest Flin Flon City Council meetings in history. "That's definitely a record, I would say," commented Mayor Dennis Ballard after a motion to adjourn passed. The meetings, held the first and third Tuesday of the month in the Flin Flon City Council Chambers, typically last between 35 and 75 minutes, though a recent meeting went some two hours.
