Reginald and Olive Hillier have always joked about winning the lottery, hoping that one day they would be lucky enough to win.
It was no joke when the pair won $44,641 on the June 13 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I would often say to Reginald, ‘If this ticket isn’t a winner, don’t bother coming home!’’’ said Olive. “A joke, of course, but it finally came true.”
Reginald bought their winning Lotto 6/49 ticket at The Gateway in Flin Flon. He said he couldn’t believe what the clerk told him after checking the ticket.
“I said to the clerk, ‘Is this right? That can’t be right. That’s a big number!’” said Reginald. “After that I just went home and told Ollie. We were both so happy.”
The lucky couple looked forward to putting their draw winnings in the bank and using some for a vacation they had already planned.
