For CC Trubiak, it was about wanting to bring a little joy to people in a tough time.
Nearly 4,000 people viewed Trubiak and Lane Laderoute team up for a Facebook live concert from Trubiak’s living room March 27.
The province of Manitoba has ordered no gatherings of more than 10 people to prevent the spread of COVID-19, meaning normal concert performances are out of the question - leading some musicians, including Trubiak, to improvise.
“It's important for myself to make sure that I don't completely disappear from people,” Trubiak said.
“I need to stay connected. This is an especially important time for me to make sure I connect with my friends, even though I can't do it in person. This has become a bridge for me reaching out more.”
Trubiak and Laderoute used a phone to broadcast for just under an hour.
“It's definitely affected everything. Certainly included is the Flin Flon arts scene,” said Trubiak, a regular performer around Flin Flon.
“Anything that was planned or being put on is just completely postponed until further notice. People are probably having to get creative in the different ways they want to share their music or socialize.”
Trubiak said he was inspired by other artists who have performed live online throughout the pandemic.
“I'm seeing a lot of different artists all over social media who are doing these live shows and I think they're incredible,” he said.
“They're just a nice way to connect.”
An archive of the session is available in full on Trubiak’s music Facebook page.
