Fifteen groups will receive funding from the Northern Neighbours Foundation this year, those specific groups have not been revealed.
The Northern Neighbours Foundation has determined which applications received by the group will receive funds. Charities and groups in Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon and Snow Lake were all eligible to apply for funding.
“That’s about the average that it’s been, for the past two years,” said Jane Robillard, current chair for the foundation.
A number of funding programs fall under the Northern Neighbours umbrella, including the Moffat Family Fund and the Smart and Caring Communities foundation.
Organized through the Winnipeg Foundation, the Moffat fund consists of a sum of money donated to the foundation by cable television Randall Moffat in 2001 - $100 million, to be precise.
Last year, the fund provided $55,000 to Northern Neighbours for regional projects.
“We have the Moffat funds, we have Smart and Caring funds and we have scholarships and bursaries as well,” said Robillard.
All the grant funds will be allocated at an event at city hall on June 20.
