The Flin Flon Lions Club recognized the contributions of several members at a banquet over the weekend. Here are the recipients of the various club awards: Judge Brian Stevenson Awards from the Lions Foundation of Canada - Ken Mansell and Isabel Stewart Hope Medal from the Lions Foundation of Manitoba and Northwest Ontario - Peter Popp Life Memberships in Lions Foundation of Canada - Harold Spring and Rick Switzer Governor's Award Pins - Harold Spring and Peter Popp Perfect Attendance Pins went to a number of members. The Lion with the longest record of perfect attendance is Kjell Hvidsten. The Lions also initiated two new members, Jesse Best and Bernie Lynn. A highlight of the banquet, held at the Victoria Inn, was a speech from Lions District Governor Rick Plaisier. He spoke of the pressure facing young people in today's world and how Lions clubs are working to support them with different initiatives. With membership in many service clubs dwindling, Plaisier also talked about the importance of growing membership and involving more young people.
