While the books at the Flin Flon-Creighton Public Library are constantly changing Ñ out with the old, in with the new Ñ the look of the facility has remained virtually the same over the years. That's about to change. Library staff and patrons are excited about some much-anticipated renovations set to begin later this month. "It will be a fresh new look," said administrator Phyllis Stadnick. "The patrons think it's a great idea and that it's time the library got a facelift." Contractors will install light blue ceramic tile at the entrance area and replace the aging brown carpet with a blue one. The walls will get a fresh coat of off-white paint, but the colourful murals in the children's book section will remain. The overhead above the counter will be painted blue, as will Stadnick's office. Due to the renovations, the library will be closed to the public for two to three weeks beginning this Monday, September 8. No fines will be issued during that time, so Stadnick is encouraging residents to borrow as many books as they would like to carry them through the temporary closure. Workers expect to begin removing the inventory of about 28,000 books this weekend. Management at North of 53 Consumers Co-op has agreed to let the library store the books in the vacant lower level of the store during the renovations. A notice will appear in The Reminder to inform the public of the reopening date.
