Flin Flon-born singer-songwriter Carley Belfry, 22, released her debut EP, the four-song Storybook, earlier this year. The Reminder caught up with the North Vancouver resident for details.
Reminder: Your debut EP is out. Congratulations. Where is the CD available and how are sales going?
Belfry: Thank you! It is available online on iTunes (just search Carley Belfry) Soundcloud (www.soundcloud.com/carleybelfry), as well as in Flin Flon at The Orange Toad and Northern Rainbow’s End. Sales are going very well so far!
Reminder: How would you describe the style and message of this album? What do you hope it does for its audience?
Belfry: I would describe the style of this EP as pop / R&B with an emphasis on lyrics. I feel the message is just about honesty and being able to relate to one another as people. I hope it can inspire others to chase their own dreams as well as help create a positive mindset.
Reminder: We’ve talked before about your background and such. What’s happened in your life and your music career since our last interview in October 2014?
Belfry: I have graduated [from] the Advanced Recording Artist program [at] Harbourside [Institute of Technology], finished the final stages of these four songs and was able to release “Storybook” and have a release party show this past August. I got to meet some wonderful, talented people this past year and am working on new music with a bit of a different edge to it.
I also followed another area of interest and took a course to become a veterinary assistant, which I am enjoying now along with pursuing music.
Reminder: Anything else?
Belfry: I would just like to give a very big thank-you to the community of Flin Flon for being so kind and supportive of everything. I am so grateful and I’ll always be a Flin Flon girl at heart!
