Jonathon Naylor Editor Nearly 20 years after the Namew Lake mine closed, a junior miner believes the area may still have ore potential. QMC Quantum Minerals Corp. says a geophysical survey on its Rocky Lake and Rocky-Namew projects has recommended 22 locations for drill holes. The airborne survey also identified 13 "distinct target areas," the Vancouver-based junior miner announced last week. Conducted by the renowned Geotech Ltd., the survey covered all project licenses and claims for a total of 2,142 line kilometres. Conductors identified, QMC said, "could represent hidden volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralized bodies at depth." QMC has chosen five priority targets for test drilling of the conductors. The company has made an application for drill permits to the provincial government. The property is one kilometre northwest of HBMS's former Namew Lake copper-nickel mine near Wanless. It is 65 kilometres south of Flin Flon and about 50 kilometres north of The Pas. The mine closed in Oct. 1993, with decommissioning completed in Jan. 1994. QMC said it has already received permits to drill conductor anomalies identified by a previous Pulse Domain Electromagnetic (PEM) survey. That drilling is expected to begin by the end of the month. A drilling company will be contracted.9/28/2011
