The provincial inquiry into the 2000 smelter explosion at HBMS has been put on hold for more than two weeks. Judge Robert Cummings has been too ill this week to attend the inquiry, which was scheduled to have sat Tuesday, yesterday, and today at the Flin Flon Courtroom. Next week and the following week, the inquiry will not take place due to a scheduled break in the proceedings. The inquiry is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, February 17. It will sit three days a week for most weeks through to June. The first six days of the inquiry saw officials tour HBMS facilities, including the smelter, and hear from some of the men who were on shift at the smelter the day of the explosion, August 8, 2000.
