A provincial inquiry into the horrific smelter explosion at HBMS continued this week with testimony from workers on shift at the smelter that day. At the Flin Flon Courtroom, testimony was given by men injured in the August 8, 2000 explosion, including Roland Pruden and Brad Russell. The men were questioned about their memories from the incident. At times, vivid detail was provided of the explosion, which resulted in the death of one smelter worker and the injury of 13 others. The inquiry is scheduled to begin its third week this Tuesday. Much of the first week involved the participants reviewing smelter terminology and going on a tour of HBMS facilities, including the smelter. The purpose of the inquiry is to investigate the events that surrounded the 2000 explosion. The inquiry is scheduled to sit each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for most weeks through to June.
