Next week marks the third annual Infusion Entrepreneurship Conference, and organizers hope the conference brings a burst of energy to local business people.

The conference, a joint effort between Community Futures Greenstone and the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce, is a professional development opportunity that will bring four speakers to the R.H. Channing Auditorium. Speakers include Kerri Twigg, a career transition consultant who will discuss career stories and strategies, Don Glenn, a small business owner from Thompson who will discuss art and entrepreneurship, and Roger Miranda, president and CEO of Evident I.T. in Winnipeg, who will discuss technology and business success.

Keynote speaker Jeff Ryzner will engage the audience in an innovation workshop, focusing on using innovation to remove barriers to success and growth, and will include a participatory component to the presentation.

“At its core, it’s an entrepreneurship conference, but we really believe the content appeals to a broader audience,” said Becky Cianflone, general manager of Community Futures Greenstone.

“We really encourage managers, key personnel, community leaders and anyone interested in developing their leadership skills to attend.”

Cianflone said the hope from organizers is that all attendees feel a renewed sense of energy for their work or business, or perhaps a business that they wish to start, and also that they will take away practical tools that can be put to use in their everyday life.

Several tickets have already been sold to people who have attended past conferences, a testament to the community response to the event.

“We’ve had a really positive review from people who have attended in the past … we’ve seen people attend year after year so we find people see value in it and find it to be beneficial,” said Cianflone.

“It’s amazing that we can see this quality of speakers in one day in our own community. We know that sometimes opportunities here are limited for professional development and to hear great speakers. To bring it all to the community to have access has been really important.”

During the event, Community Futures Greenstone and the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce will present their annual business awards as part of the luncheon.

The Infusion Entrepreneurship Conference will take place on beginning at 8 am on Monday, Oct. 29 at the R.H. Channing Auditorium. Tickets are $40 and are available online at www.infusionflinflon.com. Registration forms may be filled out online or printed and delivered in person to the Community Futures Greenstone office.
