On Creighton’s town council, it will be a case of “meet the new council – same as the old council”. All six incumbents earned back their seats, with two new candidates finishing in the last two spots.

Out of all candidates, Darren Grant received the most votes with 132, followed by Kory Eastman and his 120 votes. Anita Rainville earned 116 votes. Neal Andrusiak received 109 votes and 108 people voted for Dan Hlady. The sixth and final spot on council went to Colleen Stallard, who picked up 102 votes en route to reclaiming her spot on council.

The two new candidates, Richard Masson and Martyn De Decker, did not fare as well as the rest of the field. Both candidates finished well back of the pack – Masson received 44 votes while 38 people marked a ballot for De Decker.

All told, 155 people cast ballots in the Nov. 9 vote and in advance polls.

Along with the same council, the town will remain with the same mayor. Bruce Fidler earned his sixth term in the job last month after being the only candidate to enter the race.

No ballots were rejected or counted and objected to, nor were any ballots spoiled.

Denare Beach

In Denare Beach, five incumbents will make up the village’s next council, but a new face led the way in voting – Nicole Holmgren Bayless received the most votes of any candidate, receiving 98 votes. Dale Holmgren finished second with 94, while Frank Wiegers received 87 votes.

Beverly Wheeler got 84 votes, finishing fourth in the overall voting, while Karen Thomson recived 66 votes in her favour. The sixth and final spot on the council went to Jean Champagne and his 58 votes.

Left out in the cold are a pair of former councillors, Scott McCullum and Paul Trottier. McCullum finished just three votes out of a council spot, finishing with 55, while Trottier finished last in the overall group with 43 votes.

Champagne, Holmgren, Thomson, Wheeler and Wiegers each will return to council, with McCullum being the lone incumbent to lose his seat.

Mayor Carl Lentowicz kept his spot by acclamation, earning his eighth consecutive term as Denare Beach mayor back on Oct. 8. No other challengers stepped forward for the spot.

One ballot was found spoiled in the race, but the remaining votes contained no rejected or counted but objected to ballots. One hundred and twenty-nine people came out to the polls.
