Manitoba Conservative MP Robert Sopuck has announced nearly $217,000 for the construction of new recreational trails and the improvement of existing trails in western and northern Manitoba.
Sopuck said Ottawa is committing the cash to construct seven new kilometres of trail at the Swan Lake First Nation, improving the Goose Lake Reconnection and creating a new trail to be known as the Riding Mountain Trans Canada Network.
“These trails will encourage recreational use all year long and promote our beautiful natural landscapes,” he said.
The funding was announced during last week’s Tourism Roundtable, hosted by Sopuck and MP Blake Richards, chairman of the Parliamentary Tourism Caucus.
The roundtable was a daylong forum for members of the public, government and business leaders to discuss how they can partner together to boost tourism in Manitoba.
