Four charitable foundations are making tens of thousands of dollars available to community projects in the Flin Flon-Creighton region.

The Northern Neighbours Foundation, Moffat Family Fund, Joe Brain Fund and Youth In Philanthropy are accepting grant applications for 2015.

The Moffat Family Fund has $49,000 available to support and advance the economic, social, physical and intellectual wellbeing of children and families.

Northern Neighbours has $28,465 for community projects.

Through the Joe Brain Fund, $6,953 is available to advance education, with an emphasis on mining research and education, medical research and poverty relief.

Youth In Philanthropy, a group involving Northern Neighbours, the Thomas Sill Foundation and Hapnot Collegiate, has $3,000 designated for projects.

Northern Neighbours also has a $500 bursary available to a Flin Flon, Creighton or Snow Lake student who is graduating from high school and planning a career in health care. Applications will be available at each of the high schools.

Northern Neighbours, based in the Flin Flon-Creighton region, decides how the Moffat and Joe Brain funds are dispersed. Hapnot students choose successful applicants for the Youth In Philanthropy funds.

All applicants must have a registered charities number or be partnered with an organization that does.

Grant applications are available at Community Futures Greenstone (above Pharmasave), the Flin Flon Public Library or by emailing [email protected] .

The deadline to apply for the grants, with the exception of the high school bursary, is Sunday, March 15.

Questions can be directed to the aforementioned email address or Jane Robillard, Northern Neighbours chairwoman, at 204-687-6488.

Meanwhile, if Northern Neighbours can raise $10,000 from now until July 1, 2016, the Thomas Sill Foundation will contribute $2 for every $1 generated, up to $50,000.
