Domino’s Pizza is aiming for a June opening of its planned Flin Flon location.

Franchisee Ross Carleton says he is looking to close his purchase of a building mid month and begin renovations in April.

“June is still the target [for opening],” he said.

Until renovations begin, Carleton did not want to identify the building he is buying.

He had originally hoped to launch the Flin Flon location in 2014 but found he needed more time than expected to pin down a suitable location.

Carleton already owns Domino’s outlets in Yellowknife, Thompson and The Pas. He said Flin Flon appeals to him based on population and its lack of a national pizza chain such as Pizza Hut or Boston Pizza.

“It’s always good to be the first national brand into a place,” he said in a previous interview.

“The idea is to become the first and then just provide the best service so there’s no reason for anybody else to come in.”

Carleton estimates the Flin Flon outlet will employ at least eight to a dozen people. Hours of operation will depend on demand.
