In brief: Creighton kindergartners well prepared

When it comes to preparing its youngest students for grade school, Creighton Community School is on target.

When it comes to preparing its youngest students for grade school, Creighton Community School is on target.

At a recent Creighton school board meeting, principal Stacy Lair reported results from the Early Years Evaluation (EYE) administered to pre-K and kindergarten students.

EYE measures intellectual and physical development. It allows teachers to identify students who need additional supports and/or differential programming to bring their knowledge and skills up to the appropriate developmental level.

The provincial government wants each school’s EYE results to show 90 per cent of participating students at or above appropriate levels in four of the five domains measured. Creighton met that goal last year.
