Manitoba's official opposition is calling for a joint economic and environmental review into the province's $18-billion capital expansion plan at Manitoba Hydro. The Progressive Conservatives say such a review would ensure greater openness and transparency in the development of these important projects. 'This is the largest proposed mega project in Manitoba history. Therefore, before the NDP triples the debt at Manitoba Hydro, Manitobans deserve to be informed of how their money is being spent,' said PC Leader Brian Pallister. 'All Manitobans and their children and grandchildren will feel the environmental and economic impacts of these projects. They deserve transparency and openness.' _ Compiled from a Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba news release
