Manitoba Hydro is playing Santa Claus to Flin Flon taxpayers this holiday season. The utility company will provide free electricity for the decorative lighting the City attaches to power poles and light standards around the community. "Manitoba Hydro is pleased once again to share in your community's holiday season celebrations by offering free energy for decorative lighting," read a letter from the company reviewed at Tuesday's city council meeting. Naturally, council didn't have to think twice about accepting the offer. The free energy period begins Friday, Dec. 10 and runs until Friday, Jan. 7. For public safety reasons, decorative lighting circuits extending beyond power poles or light standards cannot be permitted under the program. "All of us at Manitoba Hydro extend to you, the members of your council and staff, our very best wishes for a joyful holiday season and fulfilling new year," concluded the letter.
