As of press time Friday afternoon, Flin Flon RCMP were still searching for a man accused of inappropriately touching a seven-year-old girl near the 100 Stairs last Thursday evening, July 23.

Police said their initial investigation revealed the man took the victim by the hand and physically restrained her in a secluded part of a residential area before touching her in a sexual manner.

Witnesses in the area reported they may have scared the suspect, allowing the girl to get free and run home. She did not suffer any physical injuries, police said.

The suspect walked away in an unknown direction. An extensive search and patrols of the area had failed to locate him as of early Friday afternoon.

The suspect is described as an Aboriginal man between the ages of 30 and 40. He has blue eyes, dark brown skin and hair on his chin. He wore his black hair in a long braid. He was wearing black pants, black shoes and a ball cap.

RCMP received the report at about 6:15 pm on Thursday. No other details were released.

Police asked anyone with information on the man or his whereabouts to contact Flin Flon RCMP at 204-687-1423 or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
