The Home Hardware corporation will temporarily take over the local store with the current owner set to retire. It's not known when the deal will be complete, but once it is, the company will run the business until a new owner is found. "The future of the store is absolutely in no way in doubt," said company spokesperson Rob Wallace. Wallace would not reveal what the asking price will be, but encouraged anyone interested in owning the store to contact the company. "We're confident that there's always a need for Home Hardware and we're confident that the dealer-owned program is unique... and we have absolutely no timeline," he said. "We will continue to run the store and customers can continue to receive the products and services that they've come to expect from the Flin Flon Home Hardware over the last number of years." The North Ave. store is owned by former Flin Flon resident Del Ward. His son Darren is a partner and manager. Darren said Wednesday that he and Sandra Ward will continue to manage the store until a new owner steps forward. The rest of the staff will also remain. The hardware store was closed this week while staff conducted an inventory in preparation for the sale. Break-in That process was delayed Monday night or early Tuesday morning when one or more vandals broke in through a rear door. Flin Flon RCMP reported "significant damage" but did not yet know whether anything was stolen given the sizable amount of inventory. The RCMP Identification Section from The Pas combed over the scene for evidence. With their investigation ongoing, police declined to release further details. They ask anyone with information to contact them at 687-1423 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The store is expected to reopen sometime next week.
