Jonathon Naylor Editor It was beginning to sound a lot like Christmas last weekend. The Flin Flon Community Choir and friends took to the R.H. Channing Auditorium stage for Silver Bells: An Old Fashioned Christmas Concert. 'What we've heard from the people is that they want the carols they're familiar with and they want that old fashioned Christmas experience,' says organizer and conductor Crystal Kolt, 'and I think that's what we gave them.' Joining the Community Choir for the evening were Borealis, a smaller though massively talented choir, and the popular trio of Imrie Anna Jones _ Kristen Imrie, Anna Jardine and Kim Jones. Soloist Ron Burwash took to the stage, too, as did The Pantyhose, 30 Below and Ukes Ahoy, one of the newer additions to Flin Flon's rich musical scene. Pieces included Silver Bells, Mary Did You Know, Star of Bethlehem and I Saw Three Ships _ and none failed to impress. Ken Pawlachuk, a Community Choir member and city councillor, praised the performance. 'You're not going to get that anywhere else in the province for a town this size,' he raved at Tuesday's council meeting. 'I think it's a privilege to have people that put these things together.' A combined audience of 375 people attended the concert's two performances Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. The concerts were a presentation of the Community Choir and the Flin Flon Arts Council.
