There will be plenty of excitement in the uptown area this holiday season. Upcoming events through the Business Builders Association, an arm of the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce, include a parade, a chance to meet Santa Claus, and another installment of Moonlight Madness. Parade of Lights The Parade of Lights will take place next Friday, Dec. 3., and will involve vehicles adorned with lights on a parade through the uptown area. The event will get underway at 6 p.m. at the Flin Flon Community Hall. It will make its way down Main St. to the Co-op and turn down Hapnot St. before dispersing on Church St. The parade replaces the annual Santa Claus parade, which had featured a low turnout in recent years due to the cold weather; however, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will still be taking part in the Parade of Lights. Nearly 20 vehicles are already signed up to take part. To register for no charge, phone Nu-U Hair Care Beauty Salon or Nasselquist Jewellers. Kids' Christmas Party at Santa's Workshop Mr. Claus will remain in town the following afternoon to host a very special event, the Kid's Christmas Party at Santa's Workshop. The event will run Saturday, Dec. 4, from noon to 3 p.m. in the lower level of the Co-op, which is donating the space. There will be activities, hot dogs and soda, free treat bags for the first 300 children and a chance to have your picture taken with Santa. If they are available, members of the Flin Flon Bombers will also be on hand to sign autographs. Families are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Lord's Bounty Food Bank. Anyone wishing to volunteer their time for this event can contact the chamber of commerce at 687-4518. Moonlight Madness and Sunday Shopping Last but certainly not least will be another installment of Moonlight Madness on Friday, Dec. 10, with participating stores staying open until 11 p.m. It will be a great opportunity for shoppers to check out the stocking stuffers and gift ideas available at the uptown businesses. In addition, participating uptown business owners will open their doors during the three Sundays before Christmas, Dec. 5, 12 and 19, from noon to 5 p.m.
